Occasionally, the tips provided in the troubleshooting
document will fail to resolve issues with PowerLinc USB devices. To
update the unit with the most recent software, use the following
steps. Note that Windows 2000, XP, or Vista is required.
Resetting the Core Timer App
Step 1: Boot into Windows. If you are doing this in a virtual machine, be sure that the VM can "see" the PLC. (VMWare menu: Virtual Machine: USB , Parallels menu: Devices: USB )
Step 2: Download the SmartLabs Device Manager.
Step 3: Launch the downloaded program and complete the installation.
Step 4: Download the CoreApp 1.2 files.
Step 5: From the CoreApp.zip file, extract
CoreApp/plc3-2D.UMP to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Smarthome\Device Manager\maps.
Step 6: From the CoreApp.zip file, extract the
CoreApp/timercoreapp12.slb to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Smarthome\SALad Downloader.
Step 7: Connect your PowerLinc USB to the Windows computer.
Step 8: Launch the Smarthome Device Manager. Click the notification icon to bring up the interface:

Step 9: Click in the main text field, type DM. An input field will appear at the bottom of the window:

Step 10: In the input field, type downloadCoreApp=timercoreapp12. The system will download the firmware to the PLC.


Step 11: After the download completes, quit the Smarthome Device Manager and disconnect the PowerLinc USB.
Step 12: Reconnect the PowerLinc controller to your Mac and restart Shion.
