License Details

Shion is available online as a free download and can be used with up to three (3) devices without a paid license. This count only includes controllable modules and does not include access points, powerline controllers, or other "infrastructure" modules.

If you wish to use Shion to control more than three devices, you must purchase a license. A paid license entitles you to install Shion on an unlimited number of your own systems.

The Honor System

We have intentionally rejected obnoxious copy-protection schemes that "phone home", limit the number of installations, or use other shenanigans to ensure license compliance. We trust that Shion users are honest people who do not cheat small independent software developers.

While we invite you to enjoy your copy of our software, we ask that you be responsible in doing so. Since your license fees help us pay our rent, purchase new development hardware, and fund bug fixes and new features, it's in your interest to encourage your friends and family to purchase their own licenses.

In the event that we discover license files that are being shared beyond a reasonable scope, we can and will blacklist the shared licenses. Blacklisted licenses will not work with updated versions of the program and offending customers will not be entitled to a refund.

Refund Policy

If you purchase Shion and are unsatisfied with your purchase for any reason, we will be happy to work with you to resolve the issue. If the issue cannot be resolved, we will be happy to refund the full cost of your purchase.
